CC doesn't cover what you think it does

Constitutional carry lets you carry. It doesn't tell you where you can't, when you can legally pull the trigger, or what happens to your life after you do. That's what training is for.

02

The shot is only half the story

What you do in the three seconds after matters as much as the three seconds before. Police response. Civil liability. What you say and don't say. These aren't details — they're the difference.

03

Safe storage isn't a safe — it's a mindset

Your gun is only as secure as your weakest moment of awareness. Every environment. Every person with access. 24 hours a day. That's the standard we teach.

04

Your license is only as good as what you know

A card in your wallet means nothing without the knowledge behind it. Training with Brooklyn Zo Defense means you carry with the law, not in spite of it.

The Training Path

Pick Your Level

Every class builds on the one before it, from situational awareness with no firearm required, all the way through advanced defensive handgun training. Start wherever makes sense for you.

The order is a suggestion, not a requirement. Already licensed? Start wherever fits your experience.

Step 01 · No Firearm Required
Self Defense / Conflict Resolution
3 Hours · Classroom-Based
$55
Per Person

This is where it starts, whether you own a firearm or not. This class is entirely non-lethal and does not involve firearms training of any kind. You'll learn situational awareness, the color codes of awareness, how to recognize pre-attack indicators before a situation escalates, verbal de-escalation, avoidance, and escape planning. We'll also break down Texas use-of-force law so you understand exactly where the line is before you're ever in a position to need it. This class is open to everyone, including those who don't own a firearm or aren't legally able to. Mostly classroom-based with real scenario discussion.

  • What To Bring
  • Notepad if you want to take notes
  • Comfortable clothing
  • An open mind
Register — $55
Step 02 · No Experience Required
Intro to Handgun
4 Hours · Classroom + Range
$120
Own Gear · $130 Gun + Eye/Ear Protection

Start here if you're new to handguns or just want to make sure your fundamentals are right. You'll cover safety rules, firearm types, ammunition basics, proper grip, stance, sight alignment, trigger control, loading and unloading, clearing malfunctions, and safe storage. The class closes with live fire on the range and a qualification drill so you leave knowing exactly where you stand.

  • What To Bring
  • Your own firearm in safe working condition
  • Your own eye and ear protection
  • 50 rounds of ammunition

Don't have a firearm or eye/ear protection yet? Select the Gun + Eye/Ear Protection option at registration.
*Ammunition can be purchased at the range for an additional fee.

Register — $120
Step 02 · No Experience Required
Women's Only Handgun
4 Hours · Classroom + Range
$135
Own Gear · $145 Gun + Eye/Ear Protection

Same fundamentals as Intro to Handgun, including safety, grip, stance, sight alignment, trigger control, loading, malfunctions, and live fire qualification, taught in a women-only environment. A lot of women hold off on training because mixed classes feel intimidating or gun store culture doesn't feel welcoming. This class is a safe space and removes that barrier. We'll also cover concealed carry options and have an open conversation about self/home defense.

Register — $135
Step 03 · State-Mandated Curriculum
Texas License to Carry (LTC)
4–6 Hours · Classroom + Range
$125
Own Gear · $135 Gun + Eye/Ear Protection

The Texas state-required course to legally carry a handgun. This class covers Texas law on use of force, handgun use and storage, and the live fire proficiency demonstration required by the state. Completion gets you the paperwork you need to submit your LTC application. If you've taken Intro to Handgun or Women's Only Pistol already, you'll move through the range portion with confidence. If this is your first time handling a firearm, that's fine too, we'll work with you.

  • What To Bring
  • Valid government-issued photo ID
  • Your own firearm in safe working condition
  • Your own eye and ear protection
  • 50 rounds of ammunition

Don't have a firearm or eye/ear protection yet? Select the Gun + Eye/Ear Protection option at registration.

Step 04 · LTC or Equivalent Recommended
Defensive Handgun I
4 Hours · Range
$130
Own Eye/Ear Protection · $140 Rental

Your license gets you legal. This class gets you capable. Defensive Handgun I builds on the fundamentals with drawing from concealment, multiple target engagement, shooting on the move, and decision-making under time pressure. This is where Self Defense / Conflict Resolution and your handgun training start to come together: the same situational thinking, now backed by a firearm when every other option has been exhausted.

This class requires your own firearm and holster. Firearm and holster rental is not available for this course.
  • What To Bring
  • Your own firearm in safe working condition (required)
  • A holster suitable for drawing from concealment (required)
  • 100 to 150 rounds of ammunition
  • Your own eye and ear protection

Don't have eye/ear protection yet? Select the Eye/Ear Protection option at registration.
*Ammunition can be purchased at the range for an additional fee.

Register — $130
Step 05 · Defensive Handgun I Required
Defensive Handgun II
4 Hours · Range
$130
Own Eye/Ear Protection · $140 Rental

The next step. This class pushes further into stress-induced decision making, low-light considerations, awkward shooting positions, and more advanced malfunction clearing under time pressure. Training doesn't stop once you're licensed, this is proof of that. Built for students who've already completed Defensive Handgun I and want to keep sharpening.

This class requires your own firearm and holster. Firearm and holster rental is not available for this course.
  • What To Bring
  • Your own firearm in safe working condition (required)
  • A holster suitable for drawing from concealment (required)
  • 100 to 150 rounds of ammunition

Ever since I was a kid, I had a thing for guns. G.I. Joe cartoons, Platoon, Full Metal Jacket, Commando. Something about them held a place in me long before I understood what that meant.

But growing up, the message I got was simple: guns were for drug dealers, stick up kids, and killers. Not for people like me. I watched stories of innocent people getting hurt or killed by guns and that reinforced everything I'd been told. By the time I moved to Dallas, that mindset came with me.

Then something shifted. The laws here were different. I learned that a gun in the right hands wasn't a threat, it was protection. It wasn't reserved for criminals, it was available to me, legally, responsibly, if I took the time to learn it the right way.

So I did. What started as curiosity turned into a hobby, and the hobby turned into real skill. I became the "gun guy" in my family, the one everyone came to with questions. USCCA and NRA certified since 2021. Active USPSA competitor. Years of putting in the work to actually know what I'm talking about, not just carry a credential.

But here's what I learned along the way that most people skip past: a firearm is your last resort, not your first response. Before you ever draw a weapon, you need to know how to read a situation, de-escalate it, or avoid it altogether. That's why Brooklyn Zo Defense isn't just about the gun. It's Self Defense and Conflict Resolution first, firearms training built on top of that foundation, because real protection starts with your mind, not just your hands.

That transformation, from fear to understanding, from avoidance to capability, is the same thing I'm building across everything under the Brooklyn Zo name. I spent years unlearning a mindset that was never really mine to begin with, and I want to help you do the same. Not just here. Not just with a gun in your hand. Wherever you're starting from, the goal is always the same: become who you're capable of becoming.
